OMG rescind...

Hey guys! Super update. On 8/2/11 I was rescinded from UCI and I just sent in an appeal yesterday. just wondering what my chances are?

Wow, I don’t know but that is a really late rescind. And please tell me you have taken precautions and applied to the local CC… your next best option is to aim for transfer, hands down; unless of course, there is some binding reason that you have to work full-time (e.g. financial reasons).

I’m sorry but you’re kinda silly if you are just gonna work full time after high school and no take the opportunity to go to CC and at least transfer in one year, let alone two via TAG.

if you let your mom down because of school, then she should be ashamed of herself. life isn’t even about school.

are you asian? because this is typical amongst asians.

go to CC. you are gonna waste time if you don’t

Honestly, if you have a single parent who is unemployed and you are strapped for cash, maybe CC is the better option. If you do 2 years and transfer (or 1 year) at a CC, you aren’t paying 2 years worth of insane tuition fee’s that you would at a 4 year University. Even with recent tuition fee increases, CC classes are still really cheap (~$28 per unit, compared to UCI’s $100+ per unit). Not to mention that there are a$$loads of scholarship opportunities.

But I can’t blame you for wanting to work right after high school given your situation. Obviously there is bias with people trying to talk you into going to college on a College Discussion forum. However more and more meaningful jobs are requiring college degrees, and receiving a degree isn’t getting easier (or cheaper) anytime soon. Either way, good luck with your future endeavors.

thanks appeal denied

Joyfulchute: I just wanted you to know that I was appalled to hear of a rescind so late in the game. It is terrible that they waited until the last minute to let you know.

Even though this seems terrible now, 20 years from now you will hardly remember it. There are so many paths to success!

So much for getting in on your appeal by “God’s grace”…did you apply to a CC?

nah im full time worker now making 12$/hr.

^

lol…

@babyavery, whats that supposed to mean?

I say, good for you. At least you have found a job! Now, since it seems like CC is out of the question… The following are some questions you need to be asking yourself:

What is your current plan for the future?

Will this current job serve as relevant work experience when looking to the future, or is this sort of a random job?

Is there room for growth?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Joyfulchute…I’m sorry. If it makes you feel better, I sent an appeal as well…

And it is still processing…

I’m probably going to get rejected as well. It might be well to be a part-time student, but as I am unaware of your circumstances (or simply do not know about the), it might not be the best option.

The only thing that’s really keeping me going is thinking about the 1 semester I have to spend at a cc if my appeal is denied… ;_;

And I’m really sorry. Good luck!

I definitely recommend going to C.C at least part time. Work for that transfer and you save yourself 2 years of tuition in this economy.

No one will care if you transfer in the end, you will probably come in more mature in your 3rd year.

Don’t give up, learn from this experience and come out stronger and more motivated.
