Im getting frustrated. No website, amazon, ebay, half.com, seems to have it. All I want is a silent, digital wristwatch that I can use for taking the SAT's. I found one on ebay, but it was all sold out. Help please? Links to websites where I can purchase it? thanks

I have a wristwatch that vibrates when the stop watch goes off. It took forever to find though…

Well I just bought a regular Casio one and got the beeper removed at the local watch shop. The guy even did it for free.

well I think the watch has to not be able to make any noise when u press the buttons as well

That isn’t going to work for everyone, but by taking enough practice tests for the SAT, ACT, and SAT IIs, I was able to maintain a good pacing without the use of a watch. I am accustomed to test taking to the point where glancing up to look at the time was natural to me, and I earned fairly decent test scores.

So keep trying to find a analog or digital wristwatch, either online or somewhere where you live. Otherwise take practice tests, even for individual sections if you can’t do 3 hour sittings and have a clock in front of you so you can get used to the habit.

I bought a fancy silent watch on amazon. Come test day I was so accustomed to the timing that I barely even looked at the watch. I would say the most critical section to keep a good pace is the essay. For this you sort of just have to be diligent with your watch, or just do ALOT of practice (I recommend the latter strategy). There are practically an infinite amount of prompts too, and they only take 25 mins each.

As a side note, I ended up with decent scores (2300).

k

10 char

Walmart… just get a regular watch. I got mine for 7 dollars. Works just fine.

but dosent it beep when u press the buttons?

You shouldn’t be pressing the buttons anytime other than the start and end of each section. Beeping noises at those times are OK.

My proctor was a hard ass and said if it beeped at the end of the section there would be a problem… He thought that people might go by my timer and not his.

I used a wristwatch that beeped when I started and stopped it, but I didn’t have any problems. The proctor asked if it was a calculator beeping on the last section, but she let it slide. It really depends from proctor to proctor.

I used the stopwatch function (as opposed to a countdown timer), so the only beeping came when I started, stopped, and reset.

^when i took the psat and the proctor was reading the rules he said something like if any device of a student beeps or makes a sound, their test will be destroyed. o.O

You might want to look at the Examinator test pacing watch.

Okay, my watch alarm turned on overnight, so now I’m freaking out. I’ve turned it off , but how did you get the beeper completely removed? I want to be totally safe.

I don’t know what y’all’s schools do but every time I’ve taken the SAT or ACT (at three different schools) they had both a clack or two on the wall and they put up a big timer on the projection screen. Is a watch usually that necessary?

^Some proctors do not do a very good job with letting people know how much time is left, etc.

Low tech solution: bring an analog wristwatch, reset the hands to midnight at the beginning of each section.

fignewton, that is a wonderful idea.

You can get one at Target.
