Objective:

ACT (breakdown): 31 (32 reading, 35 Eng, 30 science, 29 math). Retaking in Sept. My practice test results are 33's.
ACT superscore (breakdown): Have only taken once.
SAT II: 740 US, 630 Bio (may retake), 690 World History, probable 750ish for Lit
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.92
Weighted GPA: We only have UW
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): Don't rank, Top 500 Public School
AP (place score in parentheses): US (4), Euro (5), Lang (5), Micro (3), Macro (4). I took Euro, Lang, and Econ just earlier this month, but those are my guesses.
IB (place score in parentheses): N/A
Senior Year Course Load: AP Gov, AP Psych, AP Lit, AP Bio, Pre-Calc, Adv. Journalism III, Sociology, Mythology, Study Hall (my counselor insisted on it...)
Number of other EA applicants in your school: Probably only one if any students will be applying to my schools.
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Several state-wide journalism writing awards for writing. Some debate camp awards. Maybe some creative writing awards by the time I'm applying.

Subjective:

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parentheses): School newspaper (deputy editor, one of the best papers in the nation), Young Women for Change (president of our county's chapter, raised about $2500 last year, made the organization's first grant to a lesbian-focused organization), French Society (president, founder), Philosophy Society (president, founder), WILLOW (mentor, just a school club/girl power sorta thing), NHS (member), Quill and Scroll Honor Society, Key Club
I have a blog with 2000 followers, does this count for anything?
Job/Work Experience: Bagger at grocery store (15 hrs/week)
Volunteer/Community service: working for the organizations my YWFC group donates to, tutoring under-privileged inner-city kids in readin' and writin'
Summer activities: Have been attending the same journalism camp since 8th grade, ditto for debate camp except since 10th grade. Attended Juniper this summer (which apparently is one of the best creative writing camps along with Iowa).

Writing (Write a brief description and Rate Quality on 1-10 Scale; 10 as Best):

Essays: I've begun writing them, and I actually really like them. 9-10.
Teacher Recommendation #1: my AP Lang teacher, who likes me a decent amount. Guessing 8?
Teacher Recommendation #2: prolly will be my AP psych teacher. Apparently gives A+ recs, so a 9?
Counselor Rec: 8-9.
Additional Rec: Probably none.
Interview: I come off as either extremely arrogant or extremely socially awkward and occasionally very charming, so I can't tell ya how that'll go.
Art Supplement: I have a couple of writing pieces I can submit.

Other

Intended major: If God smiles on me and UChicago opens their lovely arms to me, I'll major in Medieval Studies and minor in Creative Writing. Otherwise, some sort of history or writing major.
State (if domestic applicant): Michigan
Country (if international applicant): n/a
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: white, Jewish (but you can't tell from my name so I don't imagine it will be significantly detrimental)
Gender: female
Income Bracket: I imagine somewhere in the 180-200 K range
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): My grandfather taught at UPenn, and my dad went there but I likely won't be applying ED though. Otherwise, I am hook-less.

WHERE I'M APPLYING: UChicago (EA, first choice), Havard (EA, haha i'm just curious!), UPenn (ED). My RDs: Reed, Berkley, U of M. Safeties: Michigan State, UCLA, Emerson.

If you guys think I suck, keep in mind I'm raising my ACT score! Any suggestions would be really helpful!

If you’re applying to Penn ED, then you can’t apply anywhere else early same goes for Harvard except theirs isn’t binding. Chicago lets you apply early anywhere else that accepts i.e. has none restrictive early action.

Medieval studies…?

That’s awesome, but what are you asking about it?

Was the journalism camp MIPA camp by chance???

@carrot10: You can apply to other schools EA (of course only if it’s marked EA) when you’re applying to one school ED.

@wolverine44: Yes to both. :p

could someone chance me :(

Omg did you go this year? Is it still on right now?

And as for chances (based on your current stats):

UChicago EA-reach
Harvard EA-high reach
Penn ED-high match
UofM-match
Reed-? (unfamiliar)
Berkeley-high match
MSU-in
other safeties-I’m assuming you’re in

Good luck! :)

Oh I guess it ended today, I didn’t go this year but I did last year. It was super fun (I’m EiC of my school’s yearbook)

U Chicago- Mid Reach
Harvard-high reach
Penn-high match
UoM-match
Berkeley-Match (be careful though, you’re out of state)
MSU-In

Chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1189227-chance-my-friend.html</a></p>

Re-take bio Sat II for 750+, aim for 34+ ACT, keep GPA High, get into Harvard, and celebrate.

Oh and I just realized: you’re only in pre-calc? Does your school not offer Calc or something?

I have a question…if you retake SAT IIs, do colleges still see your old SAT II score? And if you send in SAT IIs to colleges but don’t want to send your SAT I (sending ACT instead), can they still see that?

“Berkeley-Match (be careful though, you’re out of state)”

OOS applicants are at the moment given preference over in-state, just saying. (I just went there for a tour, and they say that they are looking to double the percentage of OOS students in the upcoming years. Plus, they need higher tuition amounts right now, due to budget cutting).

But I would say Berkeley is a high match for you.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1175706-chances-usc-tufts-rice-gtown-northwestern.html</a></p>

I thought they said ucla?
Hmm…
Also Harvard is SCEA I am pretty sure (forgive the grammar-I don’t know how to phrase it)

with your current ACT, I don’t see you getting into UC, UPenn,or Harvard. UM and UCLA will be higher matches, but you should get into the other ones

Harvard’s EA plan is single-choice.

When it comes to early admissions, you cannot apply to UChicago, UPenn and Harvard at the same time. UPenn + Harvard and Harvard + UChicago are also impossible. UChicago + UPenn may be doable since UPenn’s ED plan prohibits you from applying to other schools ED, but places no such restrictions on applying EA; however, if UChicago is your first choice, applying ED to UPenn makes no sense.
