On-Campus Apartment Style Housing

I’m trying to decide if I want to live in Ragans or Traditions next year. I know the walls are super thin in Ragans and the rooms are smaller than they should be for the price. But is the 2-person apartment in Traditions worth it?

If these are dorms at a particular college, I’d move this to that school’s page.

I know this isn’t what you want to hear, but honestly neither of them are really worth the going rate. Next year Ragans will probably top $3600/semester ($900/month) and Traditions will probably top $3800/semester ($950/month). Assuming you are fine sharing a bedroom, McCollum isn’t bad and it’s almost $1000/semester cheaper than Traditions (Rogers is even cheaper, but that’s a longer story).
I know it’s not the same as on campus, but Grand Marc, right off the northwestern corner (behind Burger King and next to Roboto’s) is one of the nicer complexes and it’s cheaper than Ragans or Traditions. It’s close enough that you could still probably walk to campus and it’s pretty nice. I actually just had a couple friends move from on-campus apartments to Grand Marc because it was so much cheaper than Ragans/Traditions. I’ve never lived there but several friends have.

Now, that aside, if it was me I’d probably go Traditions over Ragans, if I could afford whichever one I wanted. This would especially be the case if I didn’t have a roommate or roommates I was planning to live with. Traditions would mean only 1 roommate to deal with; Ragans means 2 in a triple and 3 in a quad- which means a lot higher chance you’ll have a roommate you don’t get along with (or even worse, more than 1).

The rooms in Ragans are way too tiny for my liking. I felt that the bathroom was almost the same size as the bedroom, which is just weird to me. The common area is probably better done than in Traditions, since it is central in the apartment instead of off to the side, and it’s more open. That’s about the only thing I really like more about Ragans than Traditions.
