On-Campus Fitness Gym

Has anyone had any experience going to any of the on campus gyms? I was thinking of signing up as it is only $10 per semester. I've looked on the RSF website but there isn't too much info there. Could you tell me if the weight rooms and excercise equipment is comparable to outside gyms (24hr fitness, Bally's...)? Is it worth it, and do alot of people use the facilities?

Thanks alot guys.

i love the rsf. the $10 will get you into all of cal's pools, which have really convenient hours. i'm a big fan of rsf's cycling classes and i believe they offer more group exercise classes than any 24 hour fitness ive been to. their treadmills are subpar (all the good ones get taken) but berkeley has a nice trail run if you like running outdoors.

anyways, for 10 bucks... you might as well join. any outside gym will def. not offer you that rate.

If you want to work out, college gyms are always worth it. I've used UCI's gym and Berkeley's gym and both are great, highly comparable to a local 24-hour fitness and similar gyms, except dirt cheap. It is definitely worth it (but only if you actually use it).

the gyms are phenomenal. Comparable to an Ultrasport 24 hr. fitness.

Don't forget everyone has to pay a mandatory $40 RSF fee. So it actually costs $50, but you have no choice about paying the $40 portion.

thanks for all the help guys, sounds like a slick deal.

The bummer for Fall Extension students though is that there was a miscommunication regarding RSF fees for that group of students, and so I will have to pay $88.50 to use the RSF and the ****ing Stairmaster. ARGH! :(

That was about the same price for FPF students last year ($86 if I remember correctly).
