On campus life at CMU...

If you are deciding between cmu and another school, take these words in to consideration. I am currently a junior ECE major at carnegie mellon, and chose to attend here due to the great engineering rep cmu has. However I regret my decision immensely and wish I had gone to UIUC or UC Berkeley instead. I don't feel good trashtalking cmu, but I just wanted to give my two cents.

First off, there is little to no social life at CMU. Granted I am not a person who goes to parties, the social scene at CMU is completely dead. If you go here, your life will revolve around school. Everyone in the engineering department slave away for the entire week and catch up on sleep during the weekend. What little free time people have here goes in to computer games.

There are no D1 sports to watch, barely any campus events, and Pittsburgh is one of the driest cities I have ever visited.

So do yourself a favor and choose that slightly less ranked school you are thinking of and have a good time in college. I for one am transferring to USC, and am happy to leave this dreary place behind.

There is social life at CMU if you don’t lock yourself away. Engineering is one of the harder programs at CMU and I knew a bunch of people majoring in CIT programs that took the time to go out and unwind.

If you want to watch sports, you have Pitt right next door (literally) in addition to very well received (and surprisingly affordable) professional football, baseball and hockey teams.

Define ‘driest’ - there are tons of things to do in Pittsburgh and, with a student ID, many of them are cheaper or free.

Lol great example of the fact that only shut-ins will take the time to complain about their college on CC
