On the right path to NYU Tisch? (Film & TV Major)

So, I'm a sophomore in high school. I live in New Hampshire, and I live in a family where it's never too early to start planning for college. I'm passionate about film, and my dream school has been Tisch School of the Arts at NYU for years.

I know that it's way too early to determine my chances of getting into the school, but I was wondering if I could list some of my extracurriculars and grades and accomplishments and specifics and what I plan to do in my high school career to see if maybe I'm on the right "path"?

Extracurriculars:
-An inducted member of the International Thespian Society for four years (an honor society that is dedicated to education and theatrical arts)
-Apart of the theater program and in all of the fall productions for 3 years straight.
-Founder of my school's Cinema Club, and current President and co-Advisor.
-Apart of the local student-run broacast television news station for 3 years where I gained weekly experience in producing, editing, anchoring, reporting, writing and doing the technical sides of journalism.
-On the yearbook for a year
-On the newspaper for a year
-Wrote & directed 4 plays throughout my HS career for my school's annual 10 Minute Play Festival Fundraiser.
-So far, I've made 4 short films of varying length.
-One of my short films, "Someday", was accepted into the New Hampshire Thespian Festival, where it was critiqued by a panel of judges - and recieved the top rating, a "Superior", where it was invited to screen at the National Festival in Nebraska.
-Took a private master screenwriting class with Academy Award winner Ernest Thompson (On Golden Pond).

My athletics include 3 years on the Varsity Swim Team.

I'm a hardworking student - and I get mostly A's and B's in school. I've recieved one C+ so far in my career, which was in Freshman Math (not a good Math student).

Anyway, how does this sound so far? What can I work on or improve? Suggestions? Am I on the right path? Do my chances look good?

Thank you!

Anything???

I think you’re on the right track. Keep up the ECs doing what you are passionate about. Tisch is looking for great storytellers, so hone your art form and creative voice, get good grades, do well on your SATs/ACTs; write awesome essays on your college application. You’ll need to impress both Tisch with your creativity and NYU admissions committee with your academic chops. If you can, apply to the Tisch summer film program for high school students (apply January/February of your junior year). It’s a fairly competitive process to get into the summer program, and very expensive but you can apply for financial aid. Once there, throw yourself into the program (as will everyone else) - it’s a blast, you’ll learn so much from other students and from the teachers, and the faculty will get to know you and evaluate you. At the end of the program, you will have a film you can use for your portfolio. The key is if you loved the program and impressed the faculty, they WILL remember you when you apply!! Good luck! (BTW, my son went to the summer program last year and got into Tisch Film regular decision. 3.8 GPA weighted from competitive high school in Boston area; good ECs in film w/ excellent recommendation; 2150 SAT, 32 ACT). Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Good luck!
