I know from elementary school through high school its always been the deal to ask the teacher if you were allowed to use the restroom. I hear this isn't the case in college. What is it like during a lecture in the lecture hall or any other class for that matter when you have to go? Do you just go without informing the teacher?

well, i did once. it was really embarassin because i was at the front third of the lecture hall, and i slipped and fell TWICE in the aisle. yeah.

yeah.. you pretty much just go... they don't really care if you leave

aww sorry about that moldau!

as someone who samples much water, i have much experience using restroom at unviersity during class hours

for big lecture halls, it is more courteous to sit in the back in an aisle seat. then nobody notices or cares. if your in front you are distraction.. and people dont like to be climbed over. of course, i do it anyway but you should sit in the back aisle.

for discussions, sit closer to the door, and frankly go as many times as you need to. in my 3 hour seminar i've left the room as many as 4 times and the prof does not care. they almost never do.

hahahaaaha

haha i know seriously its pretty funny
thanks for your input so far

does this system of just getting up and going work during exams too?

ask your professor or TA before you go...they'll probably want to hold on to your exam or make you flip it over.

in my experience -- no, they wont let u out during exams

really, just go to the restroom b4 exams

some let you go during exams. but during an exam i would always ask first. during lecture no one cares except for maybe the people whose faces you need to shove your a$$ into. :p

They are obligated to let you go during an exam. Obviously the downside for you is that you lose those minutes that you're in the bathroom, but it's probably better than wasting time trying to hold it in or actually losing it, which is just unpleasant for the people around you too. Sometimes they'll only let one or two people out at a time to reduce the possibility of people discussing the test in the bathroom.
