This is my first post here, but from just reading through these threads, I 've learned a lot already--
So I'm on the waiting list form Class of 2010, and I was wondering how competitive I would be. Here are my stats:

Overall Weighted GPA: 4.0081
Class Rank: 32 out of 287
Clubs: NHS, Beta, Mu Alpha Theta, NHS, Latin Club. Although not elected for any leadership positions in those clubs, I continue to be highly active member with over 150 total community service hours.
Sports: None?! But look at my CFA scores

I'm taking some of the toughest math and science courses available: Took AP Physics and Calculus I my Junior year. I took college-level Chemistry last semester (AP not offered) and now I'm taking Calculus II dual-enrolled with my local community college.

No scouts or anything like that-- parents never believed in that kind of stuff.. but hey- no excuse, right?

...but how would I go contact admissions to update my record? Would an e-mail to with updated information MAJ Romans suffice?

There should be a spot on the candidate information site for you to submit updated info. But at this late date, if you've got something significant, you should email the Admissions Office and copy your MALO.

sonikku10: Not having played any sports or had any leadership positions definitely hurts you. Major Romans was very helpful to my son. Give him a call or e-mail him with your questions (he usually responds that same day).
If you do a search you will find many posts on the candidates "whole score'. (60% academic, 30% leadership potential, 10% CFA)
Good luck!

I echo the others here. Please be in touch with your MALO and make sure to update your file if anything at all occurs - honors, awards, etc. It may be enough to move you up on the list to a high enough point where you will be offered an appointment. Good luck!!

I believe that the candidate login site only allows you to update personal data and not awards and achievements. In our experience hard copies of awards/achievements have been requested.

sonikku10: The fact they you made the NWL means you are competitive. Only about 20 percent of all applicants become fully qualified.

I attended a West Point orientation meeting this week for prospective candidates and found out that 70% of all fully qualified candidates get offers.

Another item of interest the admissions officer told us was that USMA is targeting 1299 candidates for the class of 2010, up from the 1251 for the class of 2009.
