On what exact day are the EA results coming out?

Does anyone know? thanks!

They do not commit to a particular day and are known in the past for sending e-mails in batches over a period of time. UofM states that all will be released no later than December 23. All (accept, defer, deny) will receive an e-mail. Here’s the info:

[Early Action Decisions | University of Michigan Office of Admissions](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/drupal/eadecisions)

When did the first batch of acceptances come out last year?

last year it was december 16th

they are not sending any decisions out until december 23rd this year. i have talked to an admissions counselor

Ahhh! I want to know sooner!

are you serious! UGH

Source? @lindsy

I hope Lindsy is correct. EA decisions should all be sent out at once. I hope the same will hold true for RD, with all decisions being sent out on April 1. Rolling admissions when you have close to 50,000 applicants does not work.

Who cares what one admission person said…they are just trying to get you off their back and giving out the latest possible date. I would bet they go out like last year around the 16th. December 23 would be just plain cruel for those who get the rejection letter being 2 days before Christmas.

okay I was just telling you what the admissions counselor told me.

The college may very well batch their e-mails and schedule them to be sent at intervals. I’m not sure how many kids applied EA but batching them a several thousand at a time over less busy network times in not an unheard of practice.

My problem with batch decisions is that if someone is clearly accepted or rejected, why not notify them. There are always 3 types of applicants. Those who are looked at the first time and will clearly be accepted, those who are looked at the first time who will clearly be denied/deferred, and those who are near the border in terms of acceptance or defferal. I think they should hold out on sending those who are close, both those who will eventually be accepted and deffered, but the others it makes no sense not to send as soon as possible. I think this is ESPECIALLY true if the applicant is an automatic deferral/denial, those ppl more than any need to know the result so they can apply to other schools, so if they know someone won’t make it in November, why not tell them?

I did some research, and the admissions counselors told the students the same thing last year that they told me (will not be notified until the 23rd) but they started releasing decisions on the 16th. I’d imagine this would be similar this year. They sent them almost every day periodically throughout the days from the 16-23. There was no correlation of when they sent them. I also believe that they would not wait until the 23rd because they may be on Christmas break at that point.

Ahh I want to hear back so badly. It would be horrid to get a rejection over the holidays…but then again I am pretty sure a rejection would suck any day. But the agony of not knowing which day it will pop up on you for a week…? That’s torturous.

( Ps. So…this is the closest thing I can find to a UMich EA applicants discussion thread…and I would like to…discuss. )

yes, jaysha, i would suggest starting one! it is coming soon. but rejections are very unlikely in early admissions unless you are completely unqualified, so i’m sure you have nothing to be worried about, if anything, you’ll be deferred

Can you imagine how many calls the admission counselors get from seniors in high school wondering when EA results are coming out? If I was them I would take down the names when they call and put them all on the rejection list for not being able to read correctly. That would stop the calling about when results are coming out…what a novel idea! lol

the decisions will all be sent out on the same day, sometime before Dec 23! Called today.

All out on the same day?!
Well, it’s a good thing they send out emails, because can anyone say “system crash”?

is that all they said did they say it was going to be that week?
