Wow. That’s shocking. Are you international?

The PSP is not for athletes. I don’t know of any athletes that have been in the PSP.

Also, keep in mind that the PSP is not the only scholarship program Tech offers. Other than the two PSP prizes, each college offers their own scholarships, there are endowed scholarships, and there are club scholarships offered by your local alumni association.

While the PS is not for athletes there are certainly athletes at Tech who got PS. In fact, there are two varsity athletes in this years freshman PS class and upperclassmen in several sports, including football.

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! I hope you all decide on Tech!

Haha…I knew someone would think my acceptance was shocking, but no I am not an international student. I am from TN. I had really good EC’s and I visited.

I guess they do look at more than an ACT score.

They definitely look at more than SAT/ACT score and GPA. I got in with a 3.3 GPA(before recalculation) and a 28 ACT(alongside a 1250 SAT) but my strength of schedule, ECs, and essay probably got me in.

I took 16 AP/IB classes, had MANY strong ECs, and my essay in my opinion was very strong and reflective of my personality and goals.

Nonetheless, I’m so happy!

I just know three kids from my school got accepted! Congrats to everyone!

Deferred.

SAT: 760 CR 800 M 770 W 1560/2330
ACT: none

ECs: I would say average, perhaps a little lacking.
GPA: 4.06 weighted. Around 3.8-9 unweighted.
Rigor was good. 5 APs.
Only other negative I can think of mentioning is that my grades have had a very minor, but existent decrease from freshman year to senior year. Not sure if they picked up on that.
Essay was in my opinion strong, others thought so as well.

Also, I did not show much interest. No visits, etc.

Im pretty ****ed though. Call it arrogant, but I thought I was good enough on paper to get in for sure.

Any words as far as my chances for March admission/ the reasoning behind me not getting in would be very, very appreciated.

mwatts6, are you in state or OOS?

If Ga Tech is still one of your top choice, you may want to show more interest and maybe try to attend one of those Connect with Tech session.

[Georgia Institute of Technology :: Undergraduate Admission :: Connect With Tech](<a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission”>Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission)

I wonder if Ga Tech is suffering “Tufts Syndrome”. Academically, you are more than qualify.

mwatts6, is that 4.06 your GT weighted average? They are very prissy about what they weight and enthusiastic about eliminating other courses.

must be some issue. Send a nice email to your admissions officer, or call on Tuesday. Monday will be a zoo. Maybe your ECs were minimal. maybe your essay was really short.

does GT take our selected majors into account during the admissions process? I picked BME…could that be why i got deferred?

“officially no” according to GT admission officer since student can change major at any time before enrollment and has one free pass once he/she officially enrolls.

ACT: 27

mwatts, you are a ■■■■■ right. How could you possibly get deferred with those stats?

dude I feel horrible for you man.

I have the same M+CR so that really scares me.

I haven’t applied yet

But wow deferred with those stats has to be a mistake or something.

Im sure you’ll get into something even better though

Good Luck

IGotAFiveOnIt: Did you get in with those stats???
