One A- (I know...terrible!) effects on GPA

<p>I truly don't mean to sound pretentious or arrogant, so I hope to God I don't come off that way. Anyway, I received an A- in a Spanish course that I took at the school this year. This was most likely the highest score in the class (which is very surprising, considering this is an honors course, not an AP course). The teacher held the philosophy that since we are getting college credits through SUNY Albany, she should make the class difficult to the point that it is nearly impossible to get an A. Luckily, I worked my butt off for an A-, but this isn't equivalent to a 4.0 (at least I don't believe it is).</p>

<p>So, clearly this is going to bring my GPA down ever so slightly. I have received A's and A+'s in all of my other classes. Do you think this one grade will have an impact on my acceptance, or do admissions officers understand?</p>

<p>brian: you’re a straight A student. But you can’t translate that into recognizing the ridiculousness of your situation? Even the most ultra selective colleges don’t solely admit 4.0 students, right? Or aren’t you sure?</p>

<p>You aren’t being arrogant or pretentious. I think you’re being hyper-nervous and freaking out at best. At worst, you’ve lost your common sense.</p>

<p>And splendiferous, at my school, an A- is anywhere from a 90 to a 93.</p>
