Today, I woke up and noticed my right eye become slightly bigger than my left eye. Now I am so afriad that I got some type of eye disease. Has any of you encounted this symptom before? I mean I really want to know if this is a serious problem or not. Should I go and see a doctor? People, please give me some advice. Thanks a lot.

Wow that's strange. Never heard of that. Are you sure that there isn't some kind of bump nearby it that is causing it to get a little bigger or something?

why not ask on a health forum. you will get alot better informtion from adults and people in the medical field. Asking here is stupid, because 98% of the people are under age 20 and know absolutly nothing about anything medical. Many may think they do, but if they did they would have been doctors already. Not even medical students have the right to diagnose a problem. and just because somebody reads somthing on the internet doesnt make it a correct diagnosis. If this is a valid concern go to a doctor.

I didn't see any bumps, just my eye is not looking even anymore. I hope it will heal back tomorrow.

Yes, I guess I'll go the my school's health center tomorrow and find out what's going on..

Might be pink eye?

what is pink eye? My eye doesn't look pink at all.

its normal, unless the eye is significantly bigger.

totally irrelevant, but studies show that people with asymmetrical faces are usually deemed as better-looking.

did the eyeball literally get big because i think that's what most people here are thinking happened...your double eyelid probably got bigger on one eye, so that's why your eye looks bigger. don't worry, it's normal.

yes, the situtation is just like monii describled, and my left eye is not like significantly bigger than my right eye. The difference is just about 1cm. I'll stop worrying and thinking about this anymore. Now It's time to go to sleep, and hopefully my eye will heal back to normal tomorrow.
Thanks for all the repies, guys!

Actually, scandal, you got it the wrong way around. Humans subconciously are more attracted and more comfortable with symmetrical faces. Which makes a lot more sense then the asymmetrical theory you have... don't see many girls drooling over quasimodo. lol! :D

Morgan : maybe you've just been looking in the mirror too much and have become more conscious of something that was always there?..

Most people have one eye bigger than the other, if you really look at them. I don't mean quite a lot bigger ala Quasimodo, as mentioned in another reply here, but slightly bigger.

It's very, very normal. And yes, people are correct in saying that symmetrical faces-- eyes the exact same size, to take one feature-- are intuitively considered more attractive.

Does it hurt or ache or itch? Is it reddish or swollen? Is there any sort of discharge from the eye? Do you have any problems with sight? If not, then... you're probably just like most people on earth and you have one eye somewhat larger than the other, and you are only noticing just recently.

I remember reading an article on beauty and its correlation to symmetry when I was like twelve, and I went to check out myself in the mirror and realized that, yes, one eye is slightly larger than the other. Not a big deal, when I realized that most people I know-- even the ones that are considered pretty attractive-- also have slightly asymmetrical eyes.

If it continues get to the doctor. Bulging eyeballs actually do occur sometimes, and they can be a symptom of many things including thyroid problems.

It's probably nothing, but you shouldn't leave your eye health to chance. It could be something that causes fluid to not drain normally from your eye. If it was me, I'd consult an ophthamologist or optometrist and get an eye exam. They can look around in there and check your eye pressure. It might be something you can get at your student health service.

Thanks for all the advices again. I'll set up an eye exam appointment ASAP...

Hey Morgan. About a year ago the same thing happened to me. I was putting my eye make-up on, and I noticed one eye was noticeably bigger. I freaked out. My right eye showed the entire round part of the iris. I saw my regular optometrist, my regular doctor, and an ophthalmologist. They first thought I had a mass behind my eye. Then, when they did a CAT scan of my eye, they said there was no mass. Next, they told me it was probably a thyroid problem. Certain types of thyroid problems cause bulging eyes. In my case, though, only one eye was bulging. After numerous blood tests, they said they saw an elevated level of T-3 hormone and wanted me to come back for another blood test. They ran more tests and everything checked out normal. I

I

. I

Sorry... I dont know whatz up with my posting... It only shows part of it... but when I preview it... everything checks out... I'll try posting the rest later?????

way to drag up threads from over a year ago...
