one person dorms?

are there any single dorms at uci? im gunna b chp if that makes a difference.

There are, they are just really expensive.

You mean like a single, where you’re the only person in the room (without a roommate)? If so, then yes, and yeah, it will cost more. I do recommend going with a double, not a triple (too many roommates) nor a single. Strongly recommended.

If you have everything covered by aid, I really do suggest living in a single. The stereotype about not being able to make friends if you live in a single is just not true, unless you work hard to never come out and meet people (which is super hard to do). It is great learning to live with other people (hence an 80 person hall), but its not so great having a roommate who has an inverted sleep schedule, even if he is cool and whatnot. Those preference surveys you fill out at the beginning of the year have no meaning at all.

How hard is it to get single room. I really want one. I will try to get to Messa

It’s very difficult. Apparently 60% of incoming freshmen request a single, despite the fact that there’s like at most one per hall.

I disagree with oceanpartier. Having a roommate is actually pretty awesome for most people. There’s no way you’re going to avoid having a roommate while you’re here, so you might as well get used to it.

I’m not saying not having a roommate will cause you to be all alone and friendless and stuff, but yeah, sometimes you do need to learn how to live with a roommate. Worst case scenario, you switch your roommate, but yeah, if you really want to go through 4 years of college without a roommate, then single shouldn’t be so bad.

Approximately how much more does it cost to get a single occupancy room compared to a double occupancy room?

About 600$ a quarter.
