My son recently submitted his online application. Upon his request, his counselor and teacher of choice sent in transcript and rec letter in written form months ago. The online application status check shows that the transcript and rec letter are still pending open items. Does anyone have any experience in the lag time between online application submission and date that the written submitted materials are united with the application and shown as received? Thanks.

the website says 4-6 weeks

Yes I can speak from experience that there has been an extreme lag time between submission and when they were finally taken off of the Portal. My counselor statement said it was still not received 11 weeks after my counselor sent it in. I sent numerous emails to UNC and they kept telling me to be patient. Finally one of the people in the admissions office (when I called them for the fifth time) went back to my file and my counselor statement was sitting in my file…and had been for 2 months. Someone just forgot to check “received” on my Portal. You might want to call them. The same thing could’ve happened to your son.

It is 4-6 weeks from the time your son submitted his app - not when they were sent. So start the clock counting then.

My daughter’s transcripts and counselor letter were sent regular mail before Nov. 2nd; the portal didn’t list these items as checked in until about Dec. 17 or 18.

10 weeks and counting for my D since her app was submitted…12 weeks since the teacher sent in the recommendation. She checked right before Xmas as to whether she should do anything…and they told her to be patient.

It took 6 or 7 weeks for UNC, 4 for Pitt and Brown has been the worst…lol

My daughter’s transcripts are still showing as missing. Calls made before the Nov. 2 deadline and today state that the transcripts are there, but the portal still shows they are missing. Today her high school guidance counselor was told by UNC that it might be another 24 hours before they update her portal. She has other classmates who are also waiting. I guess there has been an overwhelming number of applicants this year.

Not an overwhelming number of applicants (they said on the admissions blog that it was roughly the same size as it was last year) but they’re on a new system, no? I think they’ve been having major problems with their technology/website this year, and that’s what’s messing them up.

me too. And the website is not friendly.
