Online Community College courses

Hi everyone,

I'm a rising senior. I had some trouble as a junior, sacrificing my 4.0uw to a 3.3. Anyway, I'm planning on attending SBCC, skipping my freshman year and tagging into Davis (I'll have ~30 UC units with APs alone).

Anyway, before tagging in/applying to Berkeley and UCLA, I'd like to have a few community college grades. Next summer, I won't be able to take any CC courses because I'll be counseling at a semi-local sleep away camp that I grew up at. I was thinking of taking some CC courses this fall and spring, but the nearest CC to me is 30 miles, which makes it extremely out of the way, especially because I'm committed to a lot of EC activities.

So, how do online UC approved CC classes look? Pierce college, my semi-local CC, offers them.

Next year, at school, I'll be taking
-(H) English IV probably just CP, because I did AP last year and I'm not going to a 4 year
-(AP) Statistics
-(AP) Physics 1
-(AP) US Govt/ (AP) Macroecon
-(P) American Sign Language III
-(P) Skills of Life/ (P) Sports

Assuming I'll pass all my AP tests, I'll have 10.8 units. Junior year I got 18.9. As you can see, I'm at .3 away from skipping a year. I may self study Art History or something to get an extra 5.3 (and also, for in case I fail the AP Physics exam, much like I did with AP Chem :p).

Either way, I'm planning on taking a CC class. My local CC (Pierce) used to offer courses off campus and at my high school but not anymore. SO. MY MAIN QUESTION: HOW DO THE UCs VIEW ONLINE COURSES DONE AT A CC?

I'm planning on taking Introduction to Sociology and Introduction to Philosophy, both 3 units each.

Bump!

Online courses and then expect them to transfer? Not quite sure all schools are in terms with is setting.
You will have to contact The schools you are interested in and find out if they will accept it.
Its not quantity that matters n some of these top schools, but quality.
Best of luck to you.

If the course is approved for transfer to UC/CSU, it shouldn’t matter if you take an online or on ground section. I don’t think it would even show up on the transcript that it was online. Just make sure that the course is approved for transfer. You can do that at www.assist.org

Also, many Calif CCs offer online courses–you’re not limited to Pierce.

search uc approved online courses and a list will come up and you can narrow it down by your location/courses that you want to take
