It’s been more than three weeks and I haven’t gotten an email about online orientation. I’ve heard you can register for classes once it’s complete, so I’m really looking forward to it. However, the only emails/mail I’ve received from Pitt pertains to PittStart and housing. Two questions:
Is it true that I can register for classes online, without having been to a PittStart event yet?
If I can register, how long does it take to get this email and how exactly does it work (online orientation)?
It came to my D as snail mail. Once you do the online orientation, I think it is another 3 business days before you can actually register.
About how long after the Panther Central/Housing snail mail did the online orientation come?
I believe the online orientation and class registration is not applicable for all schools/majors.
@TheLiberalPanda,
It depends on what school you are entering. Students enrolling in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences or Pitt Business will be able to register for classes before their PittStart. Engineering students will register for one class - their elective - before PittStart. Nursing students will register for all of their courses at PittStart. You will be contacted by your school directly about the process that applies to you after you register for PittStart, so keep an eye on your mailbox and your Pitt email address. I don’t know the exact timeline for each school, but they will make sure to contact you with the information you need so that you can get everything done before any necessary deadlines.
Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer
