Only 1 Rec :(

I could only get 1 rec, but my school requires 2, what do i do? They specifically said hs recs can not be used in lieu of college prof recs.... what do i do?

Is there an advisor you can go to?

pay a prof to write a rec. my cousin paid someone to take his sat's about 10 years ago. everyone has a price.

Why can you only get 1 recommendation? I can't imagine one of my professors being like, um no I'm not writing you one. And if that's the case, they are pretty jerkish professors Newbyreborn.

Are you a Freshman or a Sophomore? We have been given the advice (for a Freshman - who, after all, had only 4 profs to choose from by the time transfer app time rolled around) that you can explain why only 1 rec. It's not my first choice for my own S, however; so I have told him to work hard on identifying a prof from this term's courses to obtain another rec. By the 3/15 deadline for most schools, you will have been with this term's classes for ~8 weeks; if you work on it, you might be able to come up with someone. If you know a TA well, often the TA/prof can jointly write a rec.

Also, remember that if you get your own app in by the deadline, you can usually allow a little more time before the supplementary materials such as recs have to be in. That gives you a bit more time.

Hey jmmom, is your son applying to UMich?

How is the application going? I believe they have got everything from me but I'm still trying to send in some sort of a personal statement of mine and a recommendation letter. I still couldn't believe Michigan doesn't require essays or recommendations for engineering.

EEguy, I do love those schools with no essays, no recs, etc. Ya gotta love those kind, right? :) He is applying to a couple like that but I'm not sayin' which ones ;). He did send a Personal Statement and/or rec in cases where theyre optional. I don't think any of his apps are quite complete yet as we're having a little trouble getting the Tulane/host school transcript thing coordinated.

yeah, thanks jmmom, yeah i am a freshman, only 4 courses, but 3 of the 4 courses had 4 profs each(yeah, that's right), came quickly and gone quickly, I got 1 rec so far from the 1 prof who is staying the whole year, but the other ones are going to be tough.
but thanks for the advice.
