I'm applying to transfer for Fall '07 as an entering second-year, and the application has room for four recommendations. Should I split them 50/50 between HS and college, say 1) HS counseler 2) HS teacher 3) advisor (who i also have as a prof.) 4) professor
also, i dont have much relations with my professors because im in all science/math classes with 100+ people that meets twice a week...so can i get my TA from an engineeing workshop with whom i had more contact with? It looks like next semester i wont have many small classes either, so im starting to freak out recommendations

high school recs will still work well, prof rec is going to be useless if you are unfamiliar with prof. don't get rec from TA! get them from Prof :D. I think that schools will understand you have large class sizes (psh 100ish is small!!! my smallest class is about 350 :(), and they'll judge you based on your hs recs :D

Check whether hs recs are acceptable. They were NOT on any of my S' apps, but they only asked for 1-2 recs.

It is not at all unusual for a TA and prof to collaborate on a rec. So speak to the TA/prof about doing it that way. I think you really want the prof signing it, but the TA can give the prof the specific personal knowledge of you to make it a good rec. An advisor who is also your prof seems like a good choice.
