Ok so i just sent in my early action app to Harvard, but I was REALLY dumb and forgot to put down a major award in the awards section. I know for a fact that at least one of my teachers will be mentioning the award in her recommendation, so will that be enough to have it considered? In other words if its not listed in the awards section but is in a rec, will it be counted? Or should I make an attempt to notify Harvard myself and tell them about my award? Will they think I'm dumb/incompetent for leaving it off??

It wouldn't hurt to notify Harvard in writing -- they should understand. Good luck!

Just send them an e-mail and ask them to put it in your application file. Make sure that you include your full name so they can find your file.

So just having it in a teacher rec wouldn't be enough to make sure they consider it?

they might overlook it, unless it was really significant that teacher mentioned it in a paragraph. but then again, if it was really THAT significant, they'll be wondering why did you leave it out. so just notify them ASAP.
