Oops

in my hurry to turn in the app on time.. i forgot to add in honors i have received in two of my activities. is it okay.. for me to just email them about it?

I think you can. I got into an honor society after completing my ED app so I just emailed my admissions officer about it.

I would recommend not to. I did that on my Yale app, forgot to mention some clubs that I was president in etc, but sending them in by email would probably hurt you more than not sending them in...unless you include it later in an update on your application with all the new honors you won or etc...

why would it hurt me?

They think you rushed your app (which you probably did, and which I did, in 2 hours...).

I would wait, and maybe send an update in a few weeks with a list of further honors you've recently won or something and slide the other honors inside with it.

about how long do you think i should have wait until i "update" them

Not too long. I'm waiting until around the 14th, and telling them "hey this is some new honors" or w/e...

You can send in your stuff now if you want, but I would recommend to do it by paper since that's how MIT wanted it when I asked them.

Just make sure you come clear that you're not "editing your list" you're "updating" them on your new situations.

Most admissions offices require that any updates be sent by snail mail. E-mail is used for general questions, sent to people other than the actual admissions officers, and will not be considered. (See, for example, the threads answered by AdmissionsDaniel for Johns Hopkins - they don't consider e-mail, but will put snail mail into your file.)
