Oops! I messed up on my Application!

For the Fall 2009 transfer application I was given the choice to choose 2 majors (primary and alternative if 1st choice isn't met), and I sort of switched them around...My 1st choice major is put as my 2nd, and my 2nd is put as my 1st.

THEY didn't mess up or anything and this was all my fault, so there are no errors or anything. The thing is though, both majors are basically identical and I dont' mind either one, I just like one a little more than the other.

Is there a way we can still change this? Admissions are underway now (they are reviewing everything), and I'm afraid if I e-mail them telling them to change my choices, it will be looked at negatively. They might think of something like and just other general feelings:
**
"Maybe he's switching it because he feels one major is easier to get in as opposed to the other"

"A careless mistake on his part...."**

My essay touched on both majors...so it wouldn't bring up a question on that aspect...and I read somewhere once we submit our applications, we can't make ANY changes...

Help please...

What? Admission decisions have already been released…

read more carefully

OP: I’m not sure that you can change your major after your application is submitted. If your majors aren’t significantly different and you like them both…I don’t see a pressing reason to try and change and bring your error to the attention of the admissions committee.

Is it possible to get into BOTH of our choices? Like I don’t want to be accepted to just my 1st choice and they just ignore my 2nd choice, is it possible to get accepted to both and we can choose from there?

Would the letter just state our acceptance into our 1st choice major and not mention our 2nd one?

I have a really odd feeling I will be accepted into my 1st major (which in reality is my 2nd choice), and they won’t even consider my 2nd alternative major because I was accepted into my 1st

You will only be accepted to one program and it will be specified in your acceptance letter.

I believe they’ll consider both majors when they read your application and, if you are accepted, admit you the one they felt you were most competitive and best fit for.

Oh alright, that’s the same thing I felt they would do, consider both but eventually admit me to the one based off of my app.

When you said they’ll consider both, they will put more emphasis on my 1st choice though right?

I just wanted to mainly switch it around so that they could put more emphasis and weight on my 1st choice, but I guess it works out the same way you posted

Thanks a lot

I would imagine more weight is placed on the first choice…then obviously more weight on #2 if they decide not to admit you to #1.

Alright, thanks a lot for the help!
