I'd really appreciate any opinions whatsoever. Bad opinions won't hurt be so be straight out.

ok, first off, I'd say you are a slight reach/reach. SAT's are a little low, though not bad at all, but your grades are what worry me. I looked for a rising trend, and I didn't see one, though you did challenge yourself with honors and AP classes. However, they want to see more As than Bs in those classes, something which you were a little short of accomplishing (no As in AP or Honors courses, and one C). So although your SAT is solid, your "GPA" is not so impressive (if anything, it is best to be strong in GPA and "weaker" in SAT).

Your ECs are very solid as well, though, as they say, you didn't cure cancer. I really don't see them as being your "hook," because although you did many activities, they are not too unique, and were rather sporadic in their level of required commitment. An outreach program or summer internship would have helped. Also, prioritize your ECs. They will care more about a tutoring program than a water station.

Overall, I think you have a decent shot at acceptance. Though most people are encouraged to apply early, because of your lower GPA, you might consider trying to get your SAT up first, into the 2050 range, which is doable, and make that stand out. You would still be able to apply well before the deadline, but because nothing really stands out academically right now (though you are qualified), you should get the SAT up, since that looks like your strong point. Best of luck!

ps: URM won't help. AA was banned last year!

Michigan doesn't look at Grade 9. Get your SAT up by 70+ points and you should be able to get in.

I agree with all the criticisms wholeheartedly. I'm happy to hear that I have a shot at all. Thanks for the posts

no prob. but seriously, if you can get your sat up (take it in oct or nov.), you should have a max. shot. best of luck!

i'd say with 20 more points in math he'd be alright, since its a 1400/2000. another 50 in writing wouldn't hurt either.

thanks for the addition u jerk. i really do hate you.

I agree with vc08 in that your record in honor courses aren't that amazing, and even though you have many ECs none of them sound that unique or amazing. However if you do get your SAT score up to say 1400-1450 and write some great essays you still have a decent shot.
