I’m a junior and just started looking at UF. I read on their website that they award some merit aid to OOS in the form of in-state tuition waivers. What would you guess my chances would be? I have 34 ACT and 4.0 un-weighted, lots of EC’s, volunteering, job, awards, etc.
UF doesn’t usually offer OOS tuition waivers.Below are the three level of standard OOS scholarships, which are all tuition reduction awards…OOS Tuition is about $29K a year.
Alumni
Amount $8000
Number awarded: 42
Sunshine
Amount $16,000
Number awarded: 17
Gatornation
Amount $20,000
Number awarded: 12
As UF increases the number of OOS students it accepts, I’m sure it will also increase the number of awards. I would say you have a good chance at the Gatornation award, but I don’t have any special insight.
Thank you for outlining @Gator88NE I didn’t realize there were so few awarded. I would be fine if I was awarded the Gatornation but with only 12 awarded not sure I would even apply to UF.
Hmm…the application fee is $30, and UF has a few (even more selective) scholarships…but I see your point.
I already have a number of schools that I am looking at that offer much more merit that I feel I would qualify for. Since I really only want to apply to about 10 schools at most UF doesn’t make sense.
