OOS Ttansfer to Washington?

Hi! Little about me: I’m a California resident and recently graduated from high school. As of right now, I’m a community college student, just fulfilling my ge reqs. University of Washington has always been my dream school and I would like to eventually transfer there. Transfer guides are generally focused on California 4 year institutions over out of state Universities and I was hoping if someone could help link some transfer eligibility guides specifically for UW. I have some idea of what ge courses I need to take but I plan on pursing a degree in MIS. Deciding what pre-req courses to take for that major is where I’m stuck on… that will help enhance my chances of even being considered for admission. If anyone could help, that would be awesome! Especially from current or former students from UW!!! Also, some insight on out of state transfer admission rates? Just to see what are my chances of getting in.

The transfer planning worksheets give some admissions stats by major.

For example, (literally clicking on the first alphabetically), UW accepted 12 American Ethnic Studies major transfers last year, with the GPA range of 2.75 to 4.0. You can download transfer sheets for various majors of interest and see what the recommended classes are and where you fit with stats.

About 80% of transfers are in-state. You should definitely aim to be in the top 50% of whatever the transfer GPA range is for your intended major.

Also: While there is some financial and merit aid for out of state students, UW remains expensive for Californians. It will probably cost you less money to stay in-state somewhere and move to Seattle after you graduate.
