I am currently looking at schools in SC and FL and was wondering if any of the universities give out OOS tuition waivers for academics?
I am currently looking at FSU, UCF, and USF in Florida as well as Clemson and USC in South Carolina.
My weighted GPA is a 4.2 and unweighted is a 3.8. My SAT score is a 1470.
Could I possibly qualify for tuition waivers at these schools and/or other universities?
Clemson no.
The other schools may give merit awards that are large enough to cover OOS tuition, but they may not actually use the word “waiver”.
UA would give you $26k per year which would not only essentially “waive” OOS tuition but would also cover nearly all of the instate rate.
What about your home state?
University of South Carolina has some OOS merit awards that do reduce the cost of tuition to the instate cost. Look on their website to see the qualifications.
I agree…look at your instate options.
Any chance your PSAT was high enough for you to be a NM scholar?
Florida state is a school that does give waivers by way of OOS scholarships. There is also a program where you start as a freshman with a year abroad and then get instate tuition for your remaining years. The program is currently closed, but this will give you a picture of what it would cost:

UCF has a lot of scholarships that might bring costs down to instate levels. Florida schools have very reasonable OOS tuition rates to being with.
