Opening Weekend Postponed due to Irene

So is the power on?

i am an incoming freshman living in russell, and there was no flooding in my residence hall. there was also no power outage, and looking out my window i dont even see any puddles/flooding. it is pretty windy still though. i think the college was expecting worse, to be honest. i did hear that one or two residence halls did have flooding/leaking issues, and that there was a big tree down somewhere on campus. i havent heard anything yet, but im thinking best case scenario is freshmen move in on tuesday, upperclassmen move in on wednesday, and classes start thursday. but that’s just my thoughts

No power down near the Conover Apartments, but I head that there is some power down on Main Street. Just checked out the areas near me that were flooded last night. There might be some car damage, but probably none to buildings.

So my son stayed in his dorm and had no problems. Had he come home with us, he would have shared our being without power for 15 hours. I think he made the right decision.

He has his car in a campus lot. Checked it on Sunday and said there was no damage, just some leaves, although he did not try to start it (not that I expect there will be a problem). I had asked him to check if they would allow students to put their cars in the Trabant garage at no charge but he did not ask. Does anyone know if they would have?

My DD is ready to get out of dodge and get to UD. But we have US Open tix for Mon/Tues so I will take her on Wed. She gets to go the tennis now too (so there’s a silver lining). She’s not packed yet anyway…I don’t get it…I’m sure I will end up shipping her stuff she forgets.

My daughter parked her car in the Trabant garage Sat/Sunday. The gates were up when she put it in there on Saturday and also on Sunday when she went to get it.

M880354, thanks for the info about Trabant. Fortunately the car was OK in the lot since we parked it away from any big trees and it was a high elevation. But the garage would have been better.
