Berkeley!!!

Engineering and business? Where else would you want to be besides MIT

Oxford/Cambridge would be better if weāre going all out now.

So much hate from people in this thread. Wow. No need to trash other schools at the expense of your personal favorite.

Excellent education with a wide varirty of careers = FLORIDA
Excellent weather 50 minutes from the beach = FLORIDA
Excellent Sports top Football, Basketball & Basball = FLORIDA
Excellent Female/Male ratio 55:45% good for the guys = FLORIDA
Excellent College town atmosphere small town all Gator = FLORIDA
Excellent strong Alumni network Nationwide = FLORIDA

OK you get the picture: GO GATORS!!!

If they had better engineering and business, florida would definately be one of my picks because my parents may be moving down there.

well according to the website you provided that ranked Michigan top 15 in the world, it ranked the engineering of Michigan some mid to many late teens in all the engineering categories. Itās one or the other, top 15 school or top 20 in engineering. Which is it?

I like how none of the points Iāve made about Michigan have been addressed though. Good job at avoiding the real issues. The Unibomber got his PhD from Michigan.

Yeah, and the Unibomber did his undergrad at Harvard and was a prof at Berkeley. Get outta here kid.

doesnāt matter where he worked, since he was there for less than 2 years where he struggled to teach and make contact with students. He got all his ideas from Michigan, where he was teaching and working on his disseration for 5 years.

Kaczynskiās most traumatic collegiate experience was at Harvard while participating in a psychological study.

You type crazy fast manā¦ much respect.

I apologize for not addressing the āpointsā you made. Post them again and I might take a crack at them. I didnāt realize I upset you soā¦

According to that website Michigan in different engineering subjects is ranked in the mid teens, IN THE WORLD though. When I was talking about their engineering ranking, I meant US. When I meant overall university in the world, I meant in the world.

Michigan would be good for the OP but the weather is pretty lousy.

geez PurpleDuckMan biased much, calm down we never said Michiganās prgram is dissapointing, but to be honest iād have to say UT-Austin, Stanford, and Duke would have to be the best, especially UT -Austin because:

-Amazing athletic programs
-Awesome weather
-Top ranked business school
-Walter Cronkite, Laura Bush, Michael Dell, ring a bell?
-Pretty good engineering
-Great college town
-Good job oppurtunities
-Near big cities for fun (San Antone, Houston, Dallas)
-Kind of diverse being a southern college
-Pretty large, never have to miss out on meeting new people
-Good nightlife
-Great schools overall especially journalism and engineering
-Our states not that crappy like Michigan, and i know this is probably the wrong time to say it but no offense. lol

Yeah, there are some rough stretches in the Winter.

I like the Winter though. I mean, itās not as bad as some on here have made it sound.

Donāt ask a sheltered (weather-wise) Californian or Southerner about the weather up here though, haha

Like I mentioned in my earlier posts, Iām from Boston. I even posted a video of Michigan weather, I know how horrible it is. But itās okay, love your school. You have to justify it somehow. I mean I would, if I had no real choices other than Michigan. The first word of the title of this thread is āOpinionā

Michigan is a good school, not great. For public, yes. For the location, not so much. But realize that only people from Michigan would favor going to Michigan, because you can factor instate tuition, and itās close to home for many residents. Both of those factors usually take up 80% of someoneās choice of attending college.

Then why does Michigan have a sizable (about 1/3 of the undergraduate population) percentage of students from out of state?

Do you go to an ivy league school because it would fit your personality like a glove.

Your from Boston, congrats. My weather post wasnāt directed at you. You arenāt the center of this thread.

Poor choice is schools? Real issues? What the hell are you talking about. You are dropping all your Intro to Psych knowledge on me manā¦

When did I lie? When did I dodge issues?

No real other choices than Michigan? Good school not great? You must be a stuck up kid at an ivy league school.

Only people from Michigan go to Michigan? This is news to me tooā¦ do I need to go get some stats for this or is it obvious enough?

Iām OOS for Michigan, being close mattered some. The amazing engineering school kinda did it for me.

what about the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities ?

I feel like itās kinda underrated but itās such a good school!

-top notch academics
-diverse
-itās in the CITIES!!!= which means thereās always something fun to do!
-BIG 10 sports ā¦but Iāll admit that lately the UMNās athletic programs suckā¦lol.

I lived in way upstate NY before I went to UNC, so I know about the weather. You move Michigan 500 miles to the south, and it is perfect for the OP, but since he asked about the weather I feel like it is worth mentioning. :)

Oh I know, that wasnāt meant to mean you.

Just donāt ask the described people above Haha.

I figured where you were from by your name. Ann Arbor isnāt too bad anyway. I mean, living near Cleverland Iām used to more lake effect snow
