DThe school which I want to attend has act of 27-31. I have a 26 right now. They say that priority admissions will be given to early action applicants. Should I retake the December date and try to get a higher score and submitting my application regular decisions or just go with what I got and wish for luck. The school is miami university oxford btw
They give merit aid to students with a 27 or above, so they accept lower for sure. What is your GPA and how is the rest of your transcript? If it is strong I would go ahead and apply EA. However, if you are looking for/need merit, you’ll want to retake in December.
@taverngirl My gpa is 3.58 which is also low. I took accelerated/advance courses at a college prep catholic high school. I have pretty good extracurricular if that matters. I’m also asian, would that help at Miami University? If i get rejected EA would I just get moved to RD? If thats the case should I submit my applications EA and take the Dec ACT just incase? Thanks for your reply
I’m not familiar enough to answer some of your questions, sorry. Hopefully someone else chimes in. I do know that 3.58 is above their scholarship threshold as well, so I’m thinking it’s probably a match for you. Just not sure how to advise on EA vs RD.
I think you should apply EA. Take the December ACT, and hopefully you will do better on that so you can fall into the scholarship threshold of 27-31 so that if/once you are admitted, you have that ACT score already. Also, even if you get deferred EA, you would just get moved to the RD admissions round. The 1 point probably wont affect your admissions chances if you EA, just your scholarship chances.
