Hello everyone. I'm currently applying to the Health Science program at UF. I'm really nervous about getting in. I would like some advice and if possible, for someone to chance me. The requirements for this program is to have a 3.0 minimum for the core classes.

The pre-reqs for my major is as follows, (the grades I earned are to the right)
-A&P 1 (with lab) (A,A)
-A&P 2 (with lab) (A,A)
- Statistics (A)
- MAC 1147 (B)
- Abnormal Psychology (A)
- Intro to psych (A)
- Bio 2010 (with lab) (C,B)
- ENC 2210 (in progress)

I currently have a 3.63 GPA. I've volunteered (more than 300 hours) at my community college as an Athletic Trainer. I also had a part time job the entire time I've been in college.

My high school GPA was not very good. If i remember correctly, I graduated with a 2.5 GPA.

I plan on becoming a Physical Therapist. I'm very overwhelmed and anxious! Thanks for the help!!!

Hey there! I’m a Junior in the Health Science program right now. I think you will be pretty likely to get in, your GPA is very good (much higher than mine was at the time I was admitted) and your dedication to your work and volunteering is awesome. That’s exactly what the Health Science program looks for. Finish up that writing class and you should be golden! Don’t stress too much I love the program and the awesome classes I get to be in, and it’s great to be around peers who are as dedicated to the healthcare profession as I am! The classes you get to take are awesome, too. Pathophysiology, Musculoskeletal Lab, Disease/Disability…all super cool! Good luck!

Thank you so much! You just totally lifted my spirits with that! I’m trying to wrap up my personal statement right now and I’m so motivated in finishing it! Here’s to possibly seeing you around!

I’m going to assume this a transfer thing. If so, the 3.6x GPA seems to be above average. Your chances are pretty well. Best of luck. :)

Just wondering since I am I retested in joining the program as well, when do you apply? I am currently a senior in high school and I am want to follow a pre med tract with this major. Do you apply at the end of your freshman year? Also, are those the classes that you have to take in your first 2 semesters to get into the program? Thanks

Jburger: I’m not too sure about freshman students applying for this major. I would contact the college of public health and health professions and ask them about their freshman requirements and so forth.

Gatorgal when did you apply?

I’m applying as a transfer student. For transfer students, The application to the university AND to the college (PHHP) are due Feb first. Earlier this week, I submitted my application to the university. This today, I’m going to hand in my application to the major (health science).

For transfer students, they have specific classes you have to take before starting your JR year course (that is, if accepted). I already have them all done, accept one. They have a summer B admission and a fall admission. I applied for summer B.

I dont know too much about the Freshman process :/

Hey @jburger2823!
You actually cannot apply to the Health Science major until the end of your sophomore year, as it is a Junior-Admissions program. All info can be found at phhp.ufl.edu You must complete certain prerequisites before you apply. I was a biology major for my first two years (or you can just be exploratory) and then applied and was accepted to Health Science. Good luck! If you have any more questions feel free to PM me.

Would you be willing to read my 250 word essay for the program? being that you’re already in it, it would be great to get some advice! I’ll send it to your email if you’d like.

Sure, you’re welcome to just PM it to me! :)

I cant because I dont have enough post :(

Oh, I’m sorry!! Maybe I can PM you my email address, will it let you receive them? I’d really rather not post it on an open forum.
