OPINIONS PLEASE - NYU Vs. USC

Hi,

I have applied as undecided to both and been accepted to:
NYU - LSP
USC - Undecided B.A., concentration interest - premed

As stated before I am not sure what I want to do later on...possibilities include premed, prelaw, creative writing.

Which one is the better university overall? In what aspects (quality of teachers, quality of education, type of people, socially, network, prestige, ranking etc)?

All opinions are GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks

for you
usc if you’re interested in all the social network and quality of teachers
nyu has a great reputation though

My oldest child was admitted to NYU’s GSP program (the predecessor to LSP, I think) and my son is at USC. Both enjoy their schools.

NYU - My daughter benefited from GSP’s smaller class sizes. She loves living in NYC. And, NYC/NYU is the place to be if, like her, you are interested in art history and journalism. Also, NYC seems to take summer internships more seriously than Los Angeles, and there seem to be more internships available in NYC. NYU doesn’t have a campus per se - the city is sort of its campus. NYU has one of the country’s best study abroad programs.

USC - My son is in USC’s Annenberg School of Communications. He enjoys the classes. I’m a USC alum so we were very familiar with USC’s rich football tradition and regional social connections. The football aspect was important to my son. USC has a traditional campus.

Both schools appear to be similar in prestige (both w/in the top 35 major univ. in the country, I think). I hear that NYU can be a bit lonely for some students - not sure why, perhaps due to the lack of a traditional campus. But, my daughter had no problems making good friends.

I hope these observations help. My wife and I believe that the most important thing is finding the college that is the best fit for the student. It doesn’t have to be the most prestigious, but a place where you will feel free to grow and experience new things.

Congratulations on being accepted to two fine universities. Good luck!
