Some transfer applications want applicants to submit an optional photo. What are your thoughts on this, and how would it affect admissions consideration?

if your hot, u will have a better chance of admissions ;)

That is so true. A very attractive photo of you can only help. That's how the world works.

I don't think a photo should be allowed. That can totally sway decisions.

I think a photo is also used to determine diversity based on race and (skin) color.

WHere DO I SUBMIT A PHOTO TO UCLA?! :)

On a serious note you can just post a fake picture of someone hot if you're ugly haha

this reminds me of legally blonde

I am really, really curious as to why some schools ask for it though.

their official reason is something like "its gratifying to a put a face on an applicant we may have met during the course of the admissions process...yadda...yadda"

imo, The real reason is that elite colleges (the only ones who do this) don't want fat, unattractive or otherwise repulsive people to be the image of their school.

Penn asked for it. I didn't give one. I got in...

If you feel like it, send one, if you don't, don't send one. It's not going to affect your application in any way.

Also, I tend to believe the college's reason, it's extremeley unlikely that any college would be stupid/shallow enough to admit based on appearance. Besides anybody saying that here is either just trying to scare you, or taking advantage of what is after all a public annonymous forum.

It's just a picture after all!

When I was applying for freshman admission, two of my reachiest schools asked for a picture, and the other two didn't. I got waitlisted by the picture schools and rejected by the text-only ones, so I don't think it can hurt to send a good picture (obviously no Facebook/MySpace types with the sideways peace sign and your tongue sticking out). I've also read on here about people who get to know their admissions officers relatively well...I think a picture could remind the officer that he or she knows and loves you :)

i didnt send in a picture to Brown last year and got waitlisted...so definately sent one in this time!

hate to say it...but admissions officers are people too and a goodlooking picture definitely can not hurt.

Is nudity allowed? :P

if you're good looking
