can we find out our decision on opus, or does that just come in the mail?

Lemonlime155,

No, you cannot find out the decision on OPUS. Also, relax, you've got another 4 weeks or more before decisions are mailed out via U.S. Postal Service, assuming you applied ED. Good luck, though!

technically no. official decisions are only released through snail mail (it will take a while to arrive since mine was postmarked on the 20th even though it was supposed to be the 15th). while they do not release decisions on opus, there are usually hints on the site that will let you know a week or two early. new links might appear or you will be able to get your college email address and account numbers. they have done this for the past few years unknowingly so it might happen to this year's ED class as well

no, I'm not sure if its via opus, but an admissions officer told me that decisions will be able to be checked online

really? emory told you that? well, if it's true then it is new for this year.

Amadani, I just contacted the Admissions Office... and here's the scoop... beginning this year, Emory is "planning" to do notifications by e-mail to applicants. It will not be done on OPUS, although there will likely be the inevitable telltale links that will appear that will give an applicant a good idea of their acceptance (or not). Also, the e-mail will probably give a link to OPUS that will confirm or be telltale of the decision. The Admissions Office said that there is the possibility that if not all goes according to plan, they will fall back to U.S. Postal Service. The intended date of notification is still December 15.

that's good to hear. i have a feeling that it may be a result of the complaints they got last year because some of the decisions didn't come for a very long time. i hope it goes well this year so people won't have to wonder about their status until christmas. ha

i find that dissapointed- as a member of c/o 2010- i can say there is genuine special feeling about getting thier special sqaurish envelope in the mail. its reallly. cool. best of luck. i survived this whole process even tho at times i thought i didnt even want to go to college. and good luck next semester- of senior year- its biotch

The other issue from last year was that Emory was the last school to report acceptances/rejections. They sent them out in waves and applicants were on edge for a very long time - over a week. It was a very unsettling last weekend in March. I wish they had instituted an email notification last year.

wooh! so thats satisfying to know that I'll know the day of, considering it'll give me more time to send out more apps if i get rejected

what are those "inevitable telltale links that will appear that will give an applicant a good idea of their acceptance (or not)"

what about Emory Scholar's decisions?

Can anyone tell me what the little hints are that might help you figure out what the admissions decision might or might not be. My son has been scoping it, but can't figure out what has changed although we think something has changed, even though he is a transfer and they are still waiting for one midterm grade from his current school, which was not easy to get, since his current school does not give mid term grades beyond your fresmen year. Help anyone........Thanks!!!!

if you check this thread from last year you should get a good idea http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=126661&highlight=opus
remember though that this was later in december if i remember correctly so don't get too excited yet.

I see some new stuff from Opus but none of the links are actually clickable, but I know they weren't there before, especially under Finances.

Once again, it is too early to be seeing these 'clues' on Opus, right amadani?

My son is applying as a spring 2007 semester transfer, so he should hear any time now.

I have a feeling that I may be jumping the gun but does everyone have this:

"Mandatory Student Health Insurance Waiver
To avoid the mandatory health insurance premium, you may apply for a waiver during certain times each year."

on your main opus page. I may have just missed it before, but I don't remember it being there the other day. Of course, maybe I am just losing it.

Branjo, can you say specifically whet seems new to you under Finances? Maybe it will jog my memory.
Ex: Was the View/update billing address there last time? It is clickable for me and seems more specific than I recall.

I'm pretty sure "mandatory student ...waiver" was there before.
I think what's new under Finances is that you can now actually click on the links:

Update Bill Payer Email Address
View/Update Billing Address

and there are some new stuff but the links are not yet clickable:
Enroll in Payment Plan
Make an EmoryCard Deposit

and also under admissions, theres's these
Campus Event Registration - I can't access this yet, can anyone else?

View Enrolled Events- They have the date of my tour and visit here which definitely wasn't there before

My son also has the Mandatory Insurance Waiver and the billing items also, but he spoke to Emory today and they said that they were still waiting for his midterm grades, but they can say anything they want, who knows if it is really true. I don't know if any of the items on OPUS were new and he doesn't remember either. He should hear by next week, at least that's what the told him, as a spring transfer, they want to expedite things. Good Luck!!!!

My son's OPUS account is identical to yours, most links aren't clickable either, but the date of his tour, and register for events. register for events just says there are no upcoming events when he clicks on it. But it has lots of unclickable links, such as check advisor, make online payment, etc. Let us know how it goes for you or if anything changes.
