Ordering Football Tickets

My dd somewhat freaked out last night because she found out (how, I don't know) that you order football tickets on Tuesday evenings and she has her Biology lab during that time frame. First - is it true that Tuesday evening is the time that you order tickets - and if so, can someone else get them for her? She is thinking about changing her lab time!!! She LOVES football!

OK once again the system has changed from last year. When I looked at student ticket site, it looks like there is a 2 day request period. I THINK that during this time it is NOT first come/first serve so she would not have a problem. The way I read it, after the request period ends, they will allocate tickets based on loyalty points. You then have 2 days to “claim” the ticket. Tickets not claimed (or if there are extras) will be available after that on a first come/first serve basis.

Look at the student ticket page…there is a registration for a webinar on July 16 to explain new system. Maybe that would answer all of her questions.

Thank you scmom12 -it is confusing so I will have her look into that webinar. She was very bummed last night - I just had to laugh - reminded her that she was not getting a degree in football!!!

ahsmuoh, our D’s need to meet…she LOVES football too! Has anyone done the ticketing webinar? We’ve registered D, but she is at USC now for the dance intensive and will be in the middle of dance classes on the 16th when the webinar is on. I had hoped my husband could log into the webinar for her, but it seems like you have talk and not just watch?! D needs to get loyalty points!!

Part of the USC college experience is freshman attending football games in groups with their friends. If this new system leaves large numbers of freshman without tickets, or without the ability to sit with their friends, the new system has failed. Hopefully, the new system will be better than the initial description.

^^Way back in my day there were plenty of tickets, so you just picked up a ticket with your ID and could even get guest ticket and the only exception was Clemson when we camped out with numbers. And, since more tickets than students, you could submit block requests from student groups, dorms, etc and all get tickets together. Sadly things have changed and I don’t think this has been the case for many years. This year’s system is similar to what they had when D was freshman except, I think, through ticketmaster.

For new freshman…there are 2 student seating areas, upper and lower. If you get a lower ticket (preferred) it is open seating so you and your friends with lower deck tickets can go in together and sit wherever there is room. The upper deck seating is ticketed so you are in a particular seat. If I had to guess, I’d say one reason they dropped last years season ticket idea was that students assigned upper deck hated being stuck there all season. Will all freshmen that want tickets get them for every game? No, that’s just a fact of being on the bottom rung.

However, when D was freshman, it seemed that many freshmen who didn’t get tickets in initial request got them later in the week. The big question mark, obviously, is how strong the team is this year which makes tickets more popular. I think chances are good that at least a couple of times during the season, a student and friends will all get lower deck tickets and will be able to sit together.

DHopkins, I doubt this is an improvement over 2 years ago but I guess they decided it’s better than last year.

It’s a much more fair system than it was this past year. My freshman year was a fairly fair system. My sophomore year was not.

My freshman year, it was a lottery system based on points. Most freshmen didn’t get tickets first time around. However, as the season progressed and freshmen got tickets on-demand and showed up to games, they started to get them through the lottery. I got a Clemson ticket through the lottery as a freshman, but didn’t get a ticket to the opening home game. I got it because I went to every game I could, stayed up until midnight to get tickets on demand, and then showed up to the game an hour early (or whatever the timing is) to get bonus loyalty points.

Last year, I ended up stuck with upper-deck tickets the whole season while most of my friends (including freshmen) had lower deck tickets. I was not happy at all with that, but I survived.

As much as it sucks for freshmen, it really sucks for upperclassmen to get shafted. I didn’t get good tickets as a freshman with the expectation I would get better tickets as I climbed up the ladder. This new system does exactly that.

It also doesn’t pinpoint someone into automatically not having tickets for a whole season. If a senior decides they only want to go to the Clemson game, then they’re not going to get tickets to that game when it comes to the end of the season and a freshman has been doing everything in their power to earn loyalty points.

I went to the student ticket page, but I didn’t see anything about this webinar? Will someone please be so kind to provide a link or direct me to the webinar? Thanks!

^^It was yesterday. There is another one on July 23. See student ticketing, under student life (Student Affairs office).

<a href=“Student Life - Student Affairs and Academic Support | University of South Carolina”>Student Life - Student Affairs and Academic Support | University of South Carolina;

There is also a session on Monday during Welcome Week.

Thanks scmom, I will check it out on July 23rd. I appreciate you responding :)

I did the webinar on student tickets and got one loyalty point for football tickets. Any chance this will help me in getting tickets to the USC vs. UNC opening game? I just wnt to know if I have a prayer, and if I don’t, that’s ok, just want to have some expectation.
I’m sure there is so much going on that there will be fun everywhere!!

It’s hard to know if the Thursday time will make it more or less likely for students to want tickets since many will have class the next day and it’s only one week into classes. If you don’t get it in first round, you may score with the later on demand. My D got tickets for first game as freshman but had AP credits so technically second semester freshman which gave her more priority.

Oh, I have AP credits too that make me a 2nd semester student, technically, so just maybe I’ll get lucky!! Thanks for your input!

Loyalty points at the start of the year are given out based on year and not semester. (Or at least in previous years, it’s been that way. I assume that it’s still the same.)

Anyways, being a freshman, you probably won’t get a ticket the first time around. It isn’t that big of a deal. You can get them in the on-demand period and sometimes they even release unsold tickets to students.

My friends never had any problems getting tickets to the games. Even UGA last season
