I know some of my spoiled sleeper friend at Brown have ordered larger mattresses and stuck them on the XL dorm mattress frames. Where can I find these and how much do they cost?

I've never heard of this - are you sure people were putting them on the twin XL frames? For all of the frames I've had at Brown, I think this would have been impossible.

Yeah! I person I knew had a larger (full I think) mattress that kind of hung over the side but worked...

there is bed storage in almost every dorm building. So buy a full mattress, boxspring, and hollywood (basic metal) frame, and put it in your room, if the room is big enough. Then put your bed in storage.

You wouldn't wnat to put a full mattress on a smaller frame, you'd only be able to sleep on the part that was under the frame! And it would screw up your mattress, and mattresses are expensive.

I have sleep problems so it's hard for me to sleep on those awful mattresses they supply. My room wasn't really big enough with all my crap in it for a full, so i bought a twin mattress and boxpring on super clearance at macys and put it on the existing xl frame and it worked fine. I put the mattress that came with my room in storage and got it out at hte end of hte year. This year I'm going to have a loft bed with a full mattress

You can find beds on craigslist or the dialy jolt, or buy new at macys or sleepys or even sams club.
