We’re going from June 10-11. The flights then are expensive, but we are using miles.

DS and I are going June 10-11. Staying at the Hampton Inn on St Charles (staying June 9-12).

We are going June 10th and 11th. We will also be there on the 9th due to flights. No direct from Ohio so we have to go a day early. We are staying at the Roosevelt. We were able to get a Tulane rate, but I don’t think it’s offered anymore because I couldn’t get it for parents weekend.

Going to the first session on June 1 and 2!

Oliver, I got the “Tulane rate” at the Roosevelt for parents weekend. $184 per night, Oct 3-6. On the confirmation, it is listed as “Local Corp rate”. I would call again if I were you

I imagine that the rate still exists, but they may only have so many rooms available at the “Tulane Rate.” It’s possible that you made your reservations (Jozuko) before the Tulane Rate rooms were sold out.

We are going June 13-14 and got an amazing rate at the JW Marriott. $75/night. Thank you Priceline!

Wow! That is a great rate! William Shatner is proud. Now if he could only arrange for a transporter instead of the plane ride.

I wish, FC!!!

I took chance and named my own price for a 4+ star or better and lucked out! Of course now I wish I had bid even lower!

Honestly? I guess we will never know, but I think you did about as well as you could. I know summer prices are a bit lower, but that is a really good rate for a Canal Street hotel near the FQ. I am going to try your method next time.

Yeah, I did the same thing for our visit in March and we got the Marriott at 555 Canal Street for $150. I thought that was a steal until I got the JW for June! :-)

We are there for the 4th & 5th–the other days compete with birthday and graduation (staying at the Parkview)

We are looking at orientation dates. Quick question… Are we better to go early in June due to classes filling up or does it make no difference if we have to go to a session later in June?

Makes no difference. They set aside an equal number of slots for each session for the most common freshman classes, and perhaps other popular classes as well.

Due to a scheduling conflict, it’s now looking like I won’t be able to attend with my daughter. We originally planned to stay in a hotel, but if she goes alone, I would imagine she’d stay in a dorm. She, of course, is lobbying to keep the room at the hotel (she’s 18 and presumably able to stay), if only for the comfort factor. It’s steps from the campus so getting around is not the issue. What are the advantages to staying in the dorm for orientation? Are there activities etc?

I thought the kids are required to stay in a dorm room for at least one night. FC?

I had trouble finding the info without going into the portal, but it looks like you’re correct. So that takes care of that issue…

Required or not, she might as well. Tulane requires on campus living for both freshman and sophomore years, so there are going to be a lot of nights in a dorm.

I believe they are required to stay in the dorm the one night of orientation. They have late night activities.
