Orientation ?/Freshman

Transcripts - Entering students with fewer than 24 hours of college credit must have a final high school transcript on file with the Office of Admissions prior to attending Orientation.

I saw this on the FYE website. I’m scheduled for an orientation date that I know will be PRIOR to my HS mailing the final graduated transcript. (HS will not mail until the week of 6/21)

What type of problems will I encounter with situation? Should I expect to not be able to register for classes in the fall due to this timing?

Cinnpatch,
This isn’t an uncommon situation. You will still be able to attend orientation and register for classes at orientation as planned. All you’ll need to do is to make sure that we have an unofficial transcript with current coursework in progress or an official class schedule for this semester on file prior to orientation so we can make sure you are placed in the appropriate classes. You’ll still need the final transcript submitted to us, but no need to stress about the mail date, it will work out fine!
Thanks,

My son was just accepted to UARK! He is so excited. He has been wanting to go there since 6th grade. My question is regarding orientation in the summer. Does it matter which time frame he attends, or is it better to attend in early June?

Hi Mckinneymomma,

Congratulations to your son! It doesn’t matter which Orientation session he attends unless you think he will be really picky about the classes he wants to register for, meaning the specifc time that a class is offered. That is really the only advantage to the earlier Orientation sessions. Hope that helps!

McKinneymomma- Orientation is kind of a first come/first-served type of operation, so as Crystal said, the earlier you go through orientation, the earlier you sign up for classes, the greater degree of control you have over your classes and what times you take them. His advisors will get him in his needed classes whether he’s the first session or the last, but he might have to take that early morning chemistry class if he registers later on :D.
