What exactly will I be doing? I just now registered for orientation. Why does it take so long? I was just curious as to what everybody has to do. Do we have to talk in front of a large crowd of people and explain what we are majoring in and why?

Yea, i was wondering the same thing. I'm going this week, 23 and 24, and I am wondering what they are going to talk about for so long. I know there's a lot to cover but what exactly do they do for that long?

To be honest, it's pretty excessive.

1st day you separate into groups (mine was like 15-20) with a O-team leader. They take you on a tour of the campus, you get your ID card, discuss things with them. After lunch, they separate you by major and you get to meet with your advisors. They have financial aid, security, clubs, etc. talk to you throughout the day in little sessions. After dinner you watch a show from the O-Team and then you separate in your groups again to discuss it.

2nd day you plan your schedule, listen to a guest speaker, and register for classes.

I went on a one day orientation (didn't know there were two). There was no tour. While we were waiting for things to start they would take tables of us to get ids. They had different speakers from different organization talk to us in a big hall for a few hours. Then we split into majors and talked with our advisers who also had a presentation. After that we broke and were free to have lunch. In the same hall as before around the walls groups had set up if you wanted to talk to them. Every group that had spoken before was there and more. There were more presentation then they took us by majors to sign up for classes and email. After you signed up for class you were free to go.

I hadn't realized it when I signed up but I was having orientation with all the people that were going to have class for the summer term.
