At orientation, do most people do the whole “stay in a dorm w/ another student thing” or do most people just stay at a nearby hotel? Also, do students usually bring a parent to orientation or go alone?

It is 50/50 on the Hotel/Dorm. Parents go, but spend their time in parent breakout sessions. They explain to the parents how they can't call the school and ask questions like high school. Also the meal plan, how to pay for stuff and finaid. The students will do placement testing, cat card and learning the ropes at school.

I would go alone. It's going to be that way in college, why not have the learning experience at orientation.

Im going with my dad and staying in a hotel. I didnt really get the whole "go alone" thing. How would I get to my hotel and to campus and such. My dad would also rather be their to figure out all the financial stuff we have to take care of. Its not like im going to be with him all the time. Or am I wrong?
