Regarding MT audition at Otterbein…does anyone know about the music theory and aptitude test? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

momoffatih, I think Doctor John discussed this in an earlier post but I couldn't find it to bring it back up for you. If you have the time to read through his posts, he has shared some great info! HTH :)

momoffaith:

If I could find my old post, I'd bring it back up. But instead, I'll have to recreate it. The music test is relatively simple: pitch matching, simple note reading, etc. We do not use it for admissions purposes, unless it indicates that the student is unable to match pitch, a serious problem which is difficult to overcome. But we have taken students whose reading skills are relatively weak.

In other words, no need for Faith to worry.

Hope this helps.

Thanks to all that replied. My D appreciates the information. She is looking forward to her audition on Saturday. Have a great day.

I haven't gotten any sort of letter from Otterbein yet regarding my acceptance status. I mean, I've gotten into the school and stuff but everyone is getting these "You're still in the running for MT" letters and I haven't gotten anything yet. What does it mean? Should I do something?

danimal88, I have no special knowledge about this stuff, but it seems to me that there would be no harm at all in calling or emailing the school to inquire about your status. You may find that your "You are still in the running" letter just never made it to your home mailbox.

I second that. Debbie Byrne there could not be nicer, and she will tell you your status, no problem. My D received her "you are in the final applicant pool" letter about 2 weeks ago. They will send out decision letters on Mar. 21. Give her a call!
