Acceptance/Rejection?

Has anyone heard yet the results from your audition?

I'm pretty sure that the letters are sent out tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers!

thanks benjygil

I was told they would be mailed on Tuesday.

Debbie Lee, our administrative assistant, and I generated 353 letters on Thursday and Friday. (That's not just MT, but all our degree programs.) I signed them all before I left town on Saturday. Debbie and a group of students will be cross-checking them on Monday, generating labels, and putting the letters in envelopes. If they finish the task early enough, the letters will get to the post office late tomorrow afternoon; otherwise, it will be Tuesday morning.

In years past, our admissions liaison made phone calls to accepted students. It was usually regarded as a nice personal touch. We decided not to do it this year, because in the current "connected" environment, as soon as we make one phone call, everyone knows it, and last year it clearly created some upset. We decided that it was just fairer to all involved to let the letters do the talking.

I know there will be curiosity about how many offers we made, and I promise to post that information at the end of the process. But not now. I hope you understand.

We saw a great deal of talent out there this year, and our numbers were higher than ever: up 100 applicants for our BFA programs over 2 years ago. I'm grateful to everyone who applied, and sorry that we can't offer admission to more of you. We could have made the class four times over. We just don't have the resources. But I urge all of you to be courageous, and don't ever give up. There is a place for everyone.

Best wishes to all.

Hi doctorjohn!
I promise not to say/type anything if you call me!!! Haha!!! ;-) Just kiddding. I understand why phone calls will made. Today's world is very "connected".
Anxiously waiting for replys,

wow... that made me nervous...

Here's to hoping some good news comes by the end of the week!

Thanks for clearing everything up doctorjohn. Reguardless of results, it was a great experience at Otterbein.

I completely agree. My son was more impressed by Otterbein's audition procedures and the warmth of their staff than with any other school. I've been recommending Otterbein to all of Matt's younger MT friends. My only regret is that we discovered them late in the application process and did not have time to visit, but we have friends who live in the area and assure us that it's a great place, especially for the arts. Thanks again to Dr. John for taking the time to give feedback. Good luck, everyone!

I got my acceptance letter into the Conservatory of Music today, with a Bachelor's in Music.

So everyone should be starting to get their letters now!

My d was accepted to BA Theatre with minors in dance and arts admin - just what she wanted!

Congratulations broadwaycorey and illinsue. Way to go! That's a big accomplishment.

I got my rejection letter. Pretty bummed. Congrats to everyone that got in!

Everyone,

Arghhhhh! Today is a beautiful crisp day in the Garden State, a day when it doesn't pay to live in the most densely populated state in the US. No mail today for our son! It might leave Ohio quickly, but takes a bit longer once it enters good old NJ. Congrats to those faring well. Benjy - great to hear your thoughtful words to the others. As you can see from this year's and last year's acceptance posts, virtually everyone here, even the most successful, has a story of disappointment to tell. We wish you well!

Yeah I just got my acceptance in the School of Music for a BA in voice and with a great scholarship so I'm pretty excited! So everyone should start getting them soon!

Congrats to Illinisue, BBoyd and BroadwayCorey! Happy happy!

Benjy...hang in there. You have a good attitude. Listen to what abparent said as it is so true....for everyone who has had some success, they have also had disappointments or setbacks. It goes with the territory. Good luck on the rest.

Susan

How many people are there usually in the BA voice major program?

Nothing yet for our son - so for all those still waiting to hear, you're not alone. The mail came and went today. Although his teacher told him it would be Friday. How does he know these things? Perhaps he knows a "mole" in the postal service. Best wishes to all!

My letter came today: I am WAITLISTED for Musical theatre!!!

abparent: My sister didn't receive her letter today, either... Kind of odd. There must be a HOLE in the postal service! I guess we'll all find out by Friday or Saturday, anyway!

Best of luck to everyone!

I got my letter today.
Unfortunately it was a rejection.
I live in Southern California.
I agree there must be a hole in the postal service because I'm about as west as you can get.
Well, best of luck :)
