Otterbein College

Everyone apparently gets the letter, saying either that they are released (in other words, not being considered for the program) or are in the running for various degrees.

Guess we have to wait for the pony express.

It shouldn't be long.
I auditioned Jan 26 and I got my still in consideration letter I'm going to say less than 2 weeks after.

Okay...for the daily mail update...NO LETTER!!:( ARRRGGGHHH!
Thanks for listening...I'm calm now:)

Gosh, I wonder what is taking so long ... should it take this long for letters to travel from Westerville to wherever we all live? Didn't Dr. Stefano say that they ALL went out on Friday?

NMR - may be Dr. John will comment directly, but I can somehow see that his department would have finalized the letters on Friday & handed them to the admissions office for processing/postage. This may imply that they actually did not leave Westerville until Monday (unless the admissions office works on Saturday, something I find unlikely).

Assuming the above is correct (and someone does not have a stack of letters sitting in their car waiting to be mailed :)), my bet is on the first batch of letters arriving tomorrow :).

Keeping fingers and toes crossed for all of you!

We are also awaiting the mailman, but I do have to say a big thank you to Dr John for being so kind at the NY Unifieds. My D was so nervous and unfortunatley felt a little rushed. But she had an overall 'Good' experience. These threads do help a lot.

MTgrlsmom, you make so much sense. I stupidly was picturing the letters going straight out from the theater dept on Friday, rather than having them go through admissions. But you are no doubt correct. :)

Me again. Happy smiles at our house. :)

Happy for your daughter, NotMamaRose!

Well, it's not over yet, :) but thanks!

I know but it is a step in the right direction and a nice affirmation to be in the running. Good luck with her callback this weekend at Guthrie, which I saw on the drama thread. These are all positive signs of her competitiveness and therefore things should work out in the end overall at some schools on her list.

So I am still a little confused, if my D auditioned at Unifieds and has not received a letter either way, we really don't know if she is still in the running or not. These letters have not been sent yet, correct?

Also, if she is not accepted what is the policy on re-auditioning again for the next semester if she wishes?

I would appreciate it if you could answer these questions Dr. John. Thank you. Unless someone else has already been there.

operagirl...I can answer the part on the letters. Dr. John posted that all letters were sent out last Friday. Everyone who auditioned during unifieds will get a letter saying that they are either no longer being considered or saying that they are still in the running. These ARE NOT acceptance letters, but rather "status reports" sort of. Does that make sense? Seems they have started arriving today, but my son has not gotten one yet and it will depend on your location, mail service, etc. as to exact day it will arrive. Hope that helps...sorry I don't know the answer to the other part of your question.

NMR - congrats to your D, a big hooray :)! I guess Otterbein mailing process was seamless..., just trying to take the edge of the wait for some by applying a different "mail logistics" scenario :).

I agree with beachmom as to mail service being a factor. We live in a large city. My son received his letter yesterday even though we are completely across the country from Otterbein, it was a :) . It was postmarked Saturday. I am surprised it got here so quickly, and hopeful that everyone else's arrives very soon! Good luck!!!

I can't answer directly for Otterbein, but I believe most colleges only admit for the fall, due to the sequence of classes - for ex., 1st semester acting class is only offered 1st semester. Schools that allow reauditioning would be doing so for the following fall.

operagirl:

Students may re-audition the following season for admission into the next year's class. As with most of the BFA programs, we really can't admit students mid-year.

Dr. John:

Thanks for clearing that up, that is what I thought.

But what about their acceptance to the colege and application paperwork. Does that have to be done again or can they defer admission in hopes of trying to get in the next year?

Well, guess we officially have the SLOWEST mail in the country!!! No letter today either:( I actually forgot about it until the mail came today so I guess I'm over it:)...but I do hope it comes soon.
