Ouch. While talking to one of my favorite profs on Monday about my impressions on my intended transfer college, she told me straight up, "I don't think you'll get into X-School. I don't see why they need to accept you."

I was crushed but also angry because she didn't read a piece of my application, particulary my "why transfer" essay.

Who asked for her opinion?! I'm surprised at myself for not reacting right away. So right now, she doesn't know how I feel about that comment.

The class yesterday was almost unbearable and I'm skipping it tomorrow just to get a breather from her. Another student said not to take it personally, she's just very against transfer because she loves this school so much.

Anyone in this boat? Especially if possibly staying in the same school and have the prof again and again for languages (very limited choices in this small faculty). How do you deal with it?

Don't worry, maybe you have another recommendation to back you up (here I'm assuming you applied to a school that requires two recommendations) . . .
even if that is not the case, you have your personal statement and consider this: a blatantly bad recommendation on her part should reveal its bias, and would hopefully be discarded by an adcom.
I hope things work out . . .

Maybe your prof was on her period. Try to work in her monthly cycle into your next class discussion, maybe you can infer whether or not it was that time of the month when she got ****y with you.

clg- hilarious, I was wondering about that myself!

Fortunately, she did not write my recommendation at all. I knew from the get go that she wouldn't put her heart into it even though she would do her best. I seeked my recs from two other profs who understood my history interests and advocated for me to be in a better history program than what my current college offers, even if it's a couple ranks down (#13 to #16)

Thanks guys for responding. :) I appreciate it. Now, how do I deal with her on Monday? I'll forgive her if she'll apologize for stepping out of the line.
