So I will be applying to HYP (maybe S: still making final decisions). I have heard that junior year will make or break you...I received a B both semesters in Honors PreCalculus junior year, but had As in the rest of my classes, and had all As in every class in highschool up to then. I will be taking AP Calculus this year. If I do well on AP Calc, will it offset my B in Honors PC? And regardless of AP Calc, will those Bs hurt my chances at HYP?

I'm a similar situation as the OP. I have all As (and one A-) but then I have one freaking B+ in APUSH. It's a bit frustrating but I don't think it'll matter that much (I'm applying to "top tier" schools too).
Hopefully though, when I get my AP score back I'll have a 5 to put under APUSH and so maybe that'll "soften the blow."
But seriously, don't stress about it, since there really isn't anything you can do now about it. Colleges won't be like "oo....he got a B....REJECT!"

Kid we know with a 4point gazillion, (not one B, not one B+, not even one A-) perfect SAT's, etc etc, didn't get into HYP or S. Another kid, 3.9 weighted, got into HP and S. Both white, both male, both math and science kids. The difference? 3.8ish kid was way more interesting--he was really into his EC's not just for college apps, less arrogant (you could tell by reading his essay), was sincere in wantng to make a difference in the world. So, I wouldn't worry about the B as long as you have more than grades to define you.

Two Ds at Harvard - one had a C in Calc I, the other had Bs in Pre-Calc and Calc I. The one with the C followed it up with an A in Calc II and wrote an application short answer about how she turned it around. Both were in the 600s on SAT Math and in the low 700s on the Math I subject test; both are off the charts on reading, writing and literature, however.
