out of state 1480...chances?

1480 sat1's
790/750/750/700 satii's
gpa unweighted 3.9

good ec's - 4 varsity letters, violin, internship, est'd a tutoring program at school, etc...

any shot??

definitely a good shot, although people with better scores have been rejected. it is just so difficult to get in out of state. good luck :)

If your essays are good, you will get in.

i was under the impression that most out of staters that applied were over 1500

not true..............

so what are my chances then?

very strong-- just make sure your essays are good. i know someone from in-state who had similar (although slightly lower SATs) scores and got rejected. make sure your essays are AMAZING. good luck :)

yea.. u have a good chance, but can someoneexplain why out of state people are crazy about UVA? i mean is it about as good as upenn or jhu in ur eyes?

well, many will tell you otherwise, but to me, yes. UVa is an amazing school in an amazing town. the campus is gorgeous, academics are excellent, all the people i met seemed really nice and they know how to have fun. maybe it's not as highly ranked as penn or jhu, or maybe it's not as well known (at least where i'm from in the northeast), but to me, it's a perfect school.
