I was wondering what some of the out of state acceptance rates for Rice are, and how much it helps. I'm from Oregon btw. Also, there are two to three of us applying ID (2) and RD (1?), will Rice compare us if two of us applied to the same school at Rice?

I couldn't provide you a link, but the out-of-state acceptance rate is 40% IIRC. Someone linked to a page from Rice Admissions a while ago about it. I would imagine if you were to apply with an emphasis on the diversity you will bring as a result of being from Oregon, you may have an even better chance. But I guess that is in already as an ID applicant. Good luck!

I applied ED and am from Alaska but I don't know my decision yet. In fact I really pushed how unique I was and how different it is to grow up in Alaska as compared to the rest of the nation. I will let you know tomorrow when I find out the decision. Currently have my fingers crossed but am expecting a denial.

Rice's out of state acceptance rate is significantly higher than its in state one. However, a large part of that just has to do with the self-selectivity of the applicants. People from out of state that choose to apply to Rice tend to on average all be quality candidates, while a lot of people who are local to Rice apply even though they don't quite have the scores to match what is normal for Rice.
