Out of State and Deferred Early Action---Chances?

My daughter applied EA and was deferred. We are from Massachusetts. Her UGA recalculated GPA is 3.66, I believe (if I am recalculating properly). She ranks 49/732. SATs are 1130/1670. Her grades for the first quarter of this year are 92, 86, 92, 99 and 95. Upon graduation, she will have taken 6 APs and 3 Dual Enrollment Courses. She has excellent recommendations and extracurricular activities. UGA is her first choice. Any feedback?

Any feedback is appreciated!

Same boat here in NY

Ughhhhhhh

Tilly- Sorry your d was deferred. I have heard UGA admission officers speak. Deferred is not denied. They want to hear more about your d. Her test scores and GPA are on the low end for UGA, especially for EA. Encourage your d to submit some good essays and recommendations. Wishing her all the best.

Thank you very much. She has completed her essays and we are submitting part II this weekend. And her recommendations are excellent and have been submitted. Unfortunately, she had one class (pre-calc) her junior year that really negatively impacted her GPA. Her report cards are full of mostly grades in the high 90s.

bump!!!

I have no insider information about stats at UGA but I feel your pain. My D has applied to UGA, regular decision. She was deferred from her 1st choice in another state. I guess our D’s are in the same application pool now so, good luck!

At UGA they prefer out of state applicants so they usually get accepted with lower stats than in state. Good luck!!
