Out of state and Honors College

Has anyone from out of state received their acceptance into the Honors College yet?

Thanks!~

Yes. My daughter received hers about three weeks ago and has subsequently also received a letter offering her a merit scholarship.

Oh, dang. Well, maybe it wasn't meant to be for my daughter.

thanks!~

Yay! Yesterday my daughter received her acceptance into the Honors College. Minaofrau, after your daughter received hers, how long was it before she received her merit scholarship? Thank you.

May I ask what kind of stats your kids had to be accepted into HC from out of state? My son is considering for next year? Also, is the male/female ratio any better in the HC?

Thanks.

My S is currently in the second semester of his Freshman year. His stats for the HC were: SAT - 680(V), 700(M), 640(W). He also had 6-7 AP courses and helped alot in dropping some of the required coursework.

I suspect that the HC demographics fairly mirror the overall college. The two honor dorms each have four floors, with one floor in each for men.

S truly likes the cshool alot and it appears to be a good fit. Haven't heard any complaints from him about the gender balance. Not sure what that means. ;)

My daughter has a 31 ACT, and for SAT has a 700 for CR, a 690 for Math and a 700 for WR. She will end up with 6 AP classes after this semester. Her school doesn't rank and her GPA is (I think) around a 3.42. Cap'n G, which honors dorm is your son in? What does he like/not like about the dorm? Also, what is his major? Thank you.

S is in Buist and has enjoyed it. There hasnt been a single complaint about the dorm or any statement wishing he'd chosen another. He's enjoyed his roomate and has made lots of friends. The rooms in Buist are the standard 2-bed rooms that open into the main hallway. The rooms are actually pretty good size.

With the room doors opening into the main hallway, I've noticed on visits that almost all the students leave their doors open when present. There is a lot of visiting because of that. I believe that's one ofthe things they point to for Freshman.

I know that next year, S and friends he's met are looking at rooming in one of the suites at Rutledge, which attaches to Buist.

His major is Marine Biology.
