Hello all, I love UW and have spent many hours talking to advisers about transfer credits and what not, but unfortunately they dont give me a good idea on my chances on getting in. I know that out of state students are at a disadvantage from the get go, but I have worked very hard to try to keep my chances up. I will graduate next May with an AGS degree (yes I know UW doesn’t require a degree, just the credits) with a minor in Honor studies. I have a 3.68 GPA (not counting my spring semester since they won’t receive those grades) and I participate in several clubs on campus. I am also a regional officer in Phi Theta Kappa and part of my schools Honor Program. I have prepared as much as I can towards my major (ESS) but this past fall has been very hard for me as my father died mid semester. I also have done independent research projects in my Chem II, Physics I, and Biology I class to help prepare me for a professional field in science. I think my essay will be very strong, but I have never been good at personal essays.
Since I know my disadvantage, I have also created a back up plan if I dont get into UW right away. Since I’m planning to move to the area anyway, I have decided to apply to North Seattle CC and take a quarter then reapply to UW with instate credits. Does that seem like a viable plan? I would truly appreciate any help!
