Chances of Transferring?

Hello! I have a 2.9 GPA (terrible I know) and am kinda set on the fact I cannot transfer. I’m a sophomore in my local instate community college, and was doing fine in school with really high grades (4.0 my second quarter) until I was kicked out of my house for being gay. My grades dropped drastically and I failed a course. I wrote about this is my essay, but I guess I’m asking should I even hope for a chance? I understand (somewhat) about holistic review but I don’t want to get my hopes up for no reason. Please be honest, I can take criticism.

Hey, so UW favors in-state Community Colleges over anything else. So your chances of getting in is already enhanced by that factor. If you have 90+ credits as well as a degree towards your major, then it is enhanced even more. If you don’t have that 90+ credits, then I recommend that you complete that before you apply. I personally think you have an okay chance at a non-competitive major with that 2.9 GPA. How is that GPA towards a competitive major? Not so good to be honest. If you really want to get into UW Seattle, start retaking classes that you did bad in. Admission loves a student that can recover from a bad grade.
